About me

Hi! My name is Sebastiaan Knijnenburg, 38 years old, and living with Maartje in Haarlem 🇳🇱.

I’m one of the founders of Castor, where I currently work as a principal engineer on innovation and data projects.

I love everything that has to with technology, history and biology since I was a little kid. When asked what I wanted to become as a grown-up my answer used to be “archeologist”, but ever since I got my first 486 DX2 40MHz computer in the early 90’s, technology and I have been inseparable. With a MSc and subsequent PhD in Medical Informatics and my work at Castor I believe I nicely manage to combine my love for technology and science.

I am curious: I love to explore new things, whether it’s a new country, backroads in places I already know, or new technologies that I haven’t used yet: I always want to know what’s behind the next hill or around the next corner.
